Istanbul's new airport project, which will make Istanbul one of the most important traffic points in the world, is running fast, with 55 percent of the airport finished.

The rose-shaped watchtower is complete, while the escalators and elevators have been installed. Passenger information screens are now being tested. Once completed, the project will become the largest airport in the world.

The project, which covers 76.5 million square meters since June, employs 27,000 people, of whom 3,500 are office workers, with 30,000 expected to arrive.

The new airport will be the source of income for 1.5 million people and will provide 100,000 jobs once it opens. The project employs about 3022 construction vehicles, trucks, excavators, cranes and the like, day and night.

The main building area of the new airport is 1,300,000 square meters, and the parking area will be 700,000 square meters, with a capacity of 18,000 vehicles.

n the southern region of the new airport, the estimated 10.5 million square meters will be built in the so-called Airport City, where hotels, retail markets, exhibitions, places of worship and a walking area will be opened.

The new airport has the largest free market space in the world and will feature products from more than 400 international brands. The new airport is expected to enter the service by the end of 2018.

In the first phase, the annual capacity of the airport will be 90 million passengers, with the completion of all stages can reach 200 million passengers. Flights from the airport will fly to 350 destinations around the world.
